Hope you are finding time to enjoy the summer! ACSLPA's season of registration renewal (autumn) is just around the corner and we want to let you know about important changes for 2024 renewal.
|
New Timeline: For 2024, renewal will open the first week of November 2023. The deadline for renewal will be 11:59 pm on December 31, 2023.
|

Fees Changing: On June 3, 2023, ACSLPA Council approved fee increases for 2024, 2025 and 2026 and changes to our fees terminology.
|

When did ACSLPA's fees last increase?
|
- Thanks to Council and staff's focus on cost control, general registration and practice permit fees have not increased since 2010.
|
|
|
|
|
|
How do ACSLPA's fees compare to other regulators' fees?
|
- ACSLPA's fees are low when compared to other Colleges.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Why do ACSLPA fees need to increase?
|
- ACSLPA's operating expenses have exceeded operating revenues since 2018. The College has drawn down its savings and used gains on investments to cover the shortfalls.
- Like its regulated members, ACSLPA has faced a high inflation rate since 2021 and associated increasing costs.
- Changes to legislation no longer permit ACSLPA to earn revenue from other sources such as a Job Board and hosting a Conference.
- Although Council and staff continue to focus on cost control, ACSLPA is required to fulfill its regulatory mandate as set out in the Health Professions Act (HPA) and cannot change what it does to reduce costs.

What is the new fee terminology?
|
- The total fee has been divided into 2 areas - registration fee and practice permit.
- The registration fee is paid by both non-practicing and practicing members.
- The practice permit fee is paid by practicing members.
|

What will fees be for 2024? How will 2024 fees compare to current 2023 fees?

Please plan for fees to increase by 1- 4% annually as required by inflation.
