'ACSLPA Essentials' is Not Spam

As a self-governing regulatory College, ACSLPA is required to send 'regulatory' information to its members. There is no commercial content within emails sent to our members. All content is to assist you within your profession and keep you informed of regulations.

The HPA requires that regulatory colleges carry out governance responsibilities in a way that protects and serves the public interest. Regulatory colleges do this by developing, maintaining and enforcing professional regulations, standards of practice and codes of ethics. Email is an outlet we use to inform members about the regulations.

All members must receive these emails; we recommend that you read them. If you do not want to read them, please do not report them as spam, instead, simply delete.

Members have identified email as a preferred communication method in ACSLPA’s communications surveys. If you are not pleased with this method of distribution of information, please contact ACSLPA to let us know how we can improve our communications with members.

Friendly reminder: It is always better if you use a personal email to receive ACSLPA information.

Barriers to Culturally Responsive Care
Delivering effective health services requires knowledge of possible barriers to culturally responsive care. By identifying these barriers, health care providers can work to counteract them.

Click here to learn about three major types of barriers and the impacts they have on clients.

Request for Your Input
Also, please consider taking some time to give ACSLPA input on the newly developed
Anti-Racist Service Provision in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Guideline. We realize this is a long guideline and will take some time to review but this is such an important issue and we need your feedback to ensure we get it right. You can find the guideline here and the survey for your feedback here. Thank you so much for taking the time to make us better.

If you have any questions, please email Sharia Ali, SLP Practice Advisor, at slp@acslpa.ca.

Are you interested in participating on an
ACSLPA Committee?

ACSLPA is seeking members to participate on a Hearing Screening Guideline Ad-hoc Committee. We are looking for at least 2 SLPs and 2 audiologists to form a committee to review and update the ACSLPA Hearing Screening Guideline. Representation from both the public and private sector would be ideal!

Click here to access the Committee Terms of Reference.

Interested members need to provide a brief expression of interest briefly summarizing their professional experience, to Cheryl Blair, Audiology Practice Advisor (audiology@acslpa.ca) by March 15.
