ACSLPA protects and serves the public by regulating, supporting and ensuring competent, safe, ethical practice of SLP’s and audiologists in Alberta. Membership List appointees provide service to ACSLPA as panel members for hearing tribunals and complaints review committees as outlined within the Health Professions Act. If you have an interest in understanding procedural fairness within administrative law, then being part of the professional conduct team may be for you.

Hearing Tribunal (HT) membership list appointees provide service to ACSLPA as panel members for hearing tribunals and complaints review committees, as per the Health Professions Act. While a HT considers evidence and arguments against SLPs and audiologists in adjudicating charges of unprofessional conduct, complaints review committees (CRCs) review dismissed complaints at the request of complainants. Although the HT membership list is not highly active, when called upon, member participation and attendance is critical.

If you have a minimum of five years of professional practice, sound understanding of professional practice and ethical issues, interest in serving your profession whilst learning about the conduct process, procedural fairness considerations, and administrative law, this may be the opportunity for you.  Individuals are typically appointed for a three-year term, with the opportunity to renew.  Training will be provided. An honorarium for time spent in mandatory training and time spent attending CRCs and hearings is also provided.
