The Alberta Aphasia Camp is holding their 6th annual camp on September 13 – 15, 2019. The camp is targeted at adults who are living with aphasia. The camp focuses on recreation and relaxation in a supported communication environment. Campers choose from activities, which are recreational (e.g., archery, hike, canoe, kayak, low ropes, orienteering, frisbee golf, board games, etc), therapeutic (e.g., conversation groups, stretching, stress management, therapy apps, etc) and self-care (e.g., manicures/pedicures, massage, meditation, yoga, etc).

The camp is held at Gull Lake Centre, which is conveniently located halfway between Edmonton and Calgary.

Application forms are available now on our website (uab.ca/AphasiaCamp). Apply by June 28th and take advantage of the early bird fees of $125. Applications will be accepted until July 26th for a fee of $175. Camp fees include food, accommodation and all activities. Campers are responsible for their own transportation to and from camp. They are welcome to attend with 1 or 2 family and/or friends. The number of campers will be limited this year. Apply early to secure a spot!

Staff and volunteers include SLP, OT, PT, RecT and RN. More information can be found at the Alberta Aphasia Camp website, including answers to FAQs, sample schedules and packing lists, directions to camp, and videos from past camp years.
