Virtual Speech Camp

Available all weeks in July 2020 as well as August 10-14 and August 17-21 Our virtual speech camp is designed to provide group members with the opportunity to engage with peers virtually. Campers will participate in individual and group sessions to facilitate speech and language skills, pre literacy/literacy skills and social skills. Virtual Alberta Aphasia Camp

ALBERTA APHASIA CAMP IS MOVING ONLINE FOR 2020! Due to the COVID19 pandemic, there are a variety of restrictions which make hosting an in-person aphasia camp challenging. We have made the decision that Alberta Aphasia Camp 2020 will move forward, but that we will gather together on-line. Corbett Aphasia Rehabilitation and Education (CARE) Program, University of Alberta

 We are excited to announce the launch of the Corbett Aphasia Rehabilitation and Education (CARE) program in January 2021. What is CARE? CARE is an place for people with aphasia (PWA) and their families to connect and access therapy as they move through various stages of recovery. Initially services will focus on the PWA, expanding to provide family programming in the future. CARE is supported by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta. Online Workshop – Bilingual Language Development in Canada

The Bilingualism & Multilingualism Development (BAM!TO) Lab at the University of Toronto is offering an online workshop on Friday, March 26th (11-3pm EST) that will focus on bilingual language development in Canada.   The speaker lineup features Dr. Johanne Paradis, Professor at University of Alberta who will be speaking about the bilingual development of Syrian refugee children arriving in Canada; as well as Dr. Stefka Marinova-Todd, Associate Professor at UBC who will discuss bilingualism and autism; and early career researcher Dr. AJ Orena whose work focuses on caregiver speech in French-English homes. Virtual Alberta Aphasia Camp (Sept 18 & 19, 2021)

The Alberta Aphasia Camp is holding their 8th annual camp on September 18 - 19, 2021. We will again gather together on-line using Zoom as our platform. Alberta Aphasia Camp is targeted at adults who are living with aphasia - both people with aphasia and family/friends. Campers will get to choose from activities, which are recreational (e.g., BINGO, dance, karaoke, games, movie appreciation, painting, etc) and therapeutic (e.g., conversation groups, stretching, yoga, stress management, therapy apps, etc).
