• Council welcomed Shelley Doerksen, R.SLP and Ajay Mysore Narasimha, R.SLP as the newest members of Council following their election in the fall, and Beatrice To, R. Aud to her second term on Council.
  • A new definition of ‘client’ was approved and adopted by Council for use in ACSLPA’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Please watch for watch for updates to the definition of client in the key college documents on the ACSLPA website.
    • New definition: Client refers to a recipient of speech-language pathology or audiology services, and may be an individual, family, group, community, or population. An individual client may also be referred to as a patient.
  • Council approved and adopted the creation of a new Executive Committee that will be comprised of the Council President, the Council Vice President, at least one public member of Council, and one or more other members of Council. This committee will be tasked with helping the Council fulfill its responsibilities and meet its objectives with respect to the:
    • Performance of Council and individual Council members,
    • Performance, evaluation and compensation of the Registrar & CEO, and
    • High-level human resources strategy for ACSLPA.
  • Council appointed Council members to the Executive, Governance, Audit and Risk Management and Nominations Committees for 2022.
  • Council delegated their authority to appoint a Complaints Director and a Hearings Director under the Health Professions Act to the Registrar.
  • A new member was appointed to ACSLPA’s Competence Committee. Information about ACSLPA Committees can be found here.
