Registration Process

Cross-Provincial Practice

New Graduate of Canadian Accredited Program

An applicant who completed their education in a Canadian accredited university program (Clinical Masters) within the 3 years prior to the date of application.

Pursuant to the Health Professions Act and sections 3 or 4 and 5a of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists Profession Regulation.

a. Standard Requirements

1. Application Form

Complete the online application form and declarations.

2. Official Transcripts

To show evidence of competence to practice, have your university send an official transcript confirming the date(s) on which you received your Clinical Masters directly to ACSLPA.

NOTE: If you haven’t yet received your graduate degree, your university program director must submit a letter directly to ACSLPA, verifying you have completed all academic and clinical requirements, and the date on which you will receive your graduate degree. You must ask the university to send the official transcript to ACSLPA immediately following your convocation.

3. Reference Request

To show evidence of good character and reputation, email a current reference letter to ACSLPA . Please use ACSLPA’s Reference Request Form

4. Police Information Check

To show evidence of good character and reputation, have an original Police Information Check (PIC) digitally shared with ACSLPA by your local police service or, if your local police service is not setup to share digital PICs with ACSLPA, have your original PIC mailed to ACSLPA. 5. Professional Liability Insurance

When completing the online application form, provide information about your Professional Liability Insurance that meets ACSLPA’s requirements.

6. Required Fees

Applicable application and credential assessment fees must be paid before your application will be reviewed:

    • Application Fee – This fee will appear in the application portal for payment once your application form is submitted.
    • Registration and practice permit fees – These fees will appear in the application portal for payment once your application is approved.

b. Potential Additional Requirements 

7. Practice History

If you have ever worked as an audiologist or SLP anywhere, please complete both of the following:

1. Submit a completed Currency Hours Reporting Form providing the number of hours you have practiced over the previous three (3) years. More information is available here.

2. To verify your regulatory history, contact all prior regulator(s) and request that they send a verification of registration, or equivalent documentation, to ACSLPA.

NOTE: If getting information from a previous regulator is challenging, please contact the ACSLPA office.

8. English Language Proficiency

If less than 75% of your classroom and clinical practicum training was completed in English you must provide evidence of English Language Proficiency. There are multiple ways to provide evidence, please review the English Language Proficiency webpage.

9. Name Change

Applicants must submit evidence of a name change if the name used on your registration application form is different from the name stated on other documents in your application (e.g., official transcripts). More information is available here.

c. After Registration

  • If you are approved for registration, you will need to complete ACSLPA’s Jurisprudence E-Course and test. More information will be provided by email about how to complete the test.

d. Timeline

  • After ACSLPA receives all the above information, the typical processing time until the first registration decision is 5-10 business days.
  • Exact time to become fully registered varies on a case-by-case basis, if you have a strict time requirement, please contact ACSLPA to discuss.
