Registration Process

Cross-Provincial Practice

Canadian Labour Mobility Applicant

An applicant registered with a practice permit on the equivalent of ACSLPA’s General Register in another province (e.g., not provisionally registered).

Pursuant to the Health Professions Act and section 6 of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists Profession Regulation.

a. Standard Requirements

1. Verification

Provide a letter verifying your regulatory history from each regulator with which you have been registered. Please contact your previous regulator(s) and request a verification of registration

NOTE: If getting information from a previous regulator is challenging, please contact the ACSLPA office.

2. Application Form

Complete the online application form and declarations.

3. Police Information Check

To show evidence of good character and reputation, have an original Police Information Check (PIC) digitally shared with ACSLPA by your local police service or, if your local police service is not setup to share digital PICs with ACSLPA, have your original PIC mailed to ACSLPA. 4. Professional Liability Insurance

When completing the online application form, provide information about your Professional Liability Insurance that meets ACSLPA’s requirements.

5. Required Fees

Applicable application and credential assessment fees must be paid before your application will be reviewed:

    • Application Fee – This fee will appear in the application portal for payment once your application form is submitted.
    • Registration and practice permit fees – These fees will appear in the application portal for payment once your application is approved.

b. Potential Additional Requirements 

6. English Language Proficiency

Are you registered in a province where the official language is French or both French and English? You must provide evidence of English language proficiency if you have not already provided evidence of English language proficiency in another Canadian province.

c. After Registration

  • If you are approved for registration, you will need to complete ACSLPA’s Jurisprudence E-Course and test. More information will be provided by email about how to complete the test.
  • Meet currency hours when you renew your registration for the first time. If you would like to provide this information prior to your first renewal, submit a completed Currency Hours Reporting Form providing the number of hours you have practiced over the previous five (5) years. d. Timeline

  • After ACSLPA receives all the above information, the typical processing time until the first registration decision is 5-10 business days.
  • Exact time to become fully registered varies on a case-by-case basis, if you have a strict time requirement, please contact ACSLPA to discuss.
