
Member of Council Nomination Information
ACSLPA Council serves as the governing body of the College and fulfills specific roles and responsibilities set out in the Health Professions Act (HPA). This includes:
- Ensuring regulation of speech-language pathologists and audiologists in a manner that protects and serves the public of Alberta;
- Administering the Health Professions Act, including making appointments and establishing committees
as required; - Establishing and monitoring compliance with the strategic plan, annual plan and budget, and governance policies of the College;
- Exercising oversight of the affairs of the College and ensuring the College fulfills its statutory mandate; and
- Approving fees, standards of practice, code of ethics, guidelines, and other College documents.
Training and support are provided.

2026 Opportunities
There are 4 (four) member of council positions available as of January 1, 2026.
Four regulated members are required to fill:
- two positions for the 2026-2028 term, 3-year term; and
- two positions for the 2026-2029 term, 4-year term.
Candidates/nominees may accept a nomination for one of the following:
- 2026-2028 positions, 3-year term, or
- 2026-2029 positions, 4-year term, or
- both the 2026-2028 and 2026-2029 positions.
The candidates will be selected as follows:

The candidate with the highest number of votes will be given the longest available term they agreed to be nominated for.
- The candidate with the next highest number of votes will be assigned the longest remaining term they agreed to be nominated for, and
- This process will repeat until all positions are filled.
ACSLPA follows a competency-based model for our Council. While all interested regulated members are encouraged to apply, Council would welcome additional audiologists.
