Council Meeting Updates- February 28
At their meeting on February 28 in Calgary, Council:
- Heard from ACSLPA’s financial auditor, accepted the auditor’s 2025 audit findings report and approved the College’s 2025 audited financial statements;
- Approved 2025 works plans for Council’s committees;
- Rescinded two Position Statements: Recording Currency Hours During Pandemic-Related Redeployment and Vaccine Hesitancy;
- Discussed and supported seeking authorization for ultrasound imaging as an SLP restricted activity; and
- Conducted regular Council business:
- Received and accepted regular accountability & oversight reporting: Financial update and management report; annual plan status update; professional conduct report; risk reporting; updates on 2025 Council committee work plans; selection of 2026 Council committee chairs; the Audit and Risk Management (ARM) Committee’s review of 2025 Council honorariums & Registrar/CEO staff development and travel expenses; notifications from the Registrar regarding recent appointments and Key College Document approvals; and annual report from the Registration Committee;
- Made additional Council appointments to Council committees;
- Received information from the Governance Committee regarding the annual Council knowledge, skills and experience (KSE) process aimed at ensuring Council has the KSE required to fulfill its responsibilities;
- Completed annual discussion and signing of confidentiality agreement, code of conduct and council norms; and
- Received updates from ACSLPA’s Registrar/CEO on recent and emerging issues and a review of activities completed in 2025.
