Jurisprudence Education Modules

Modules include Jurisprudence and Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct

As self-regulated healthcare professionals, registered speech-language pathologists and audiologists are expected to familiarize themselves with the provincial regulatory requirements relevant to their daily practice. They must also practice in compliance with these requirements.

Completion of jurisprudence training modules will help prepare participants to complete a multiple choice examination.  Successful completion of the jurisprudence examination is a requirement for initial registration with ACSLPA. Members who wish to track their completion of the modules are encouraged to take the exam.

There are a total of 9 modules and supplementary resources which includes 5 related to jurisprudence and 4 related to the prevention of sexual abuse and sexual misconduct. Each module includes a variety of learning activities to meet different learning styles.  You may choose to view the narrated video presentations, listen to the podcasts, or read the eBooks or downloadable written materials. Learning will also be enhanced through completion of module quizzes and interactive learning activities. Please note that you are also required to be aware of the contents of key documents referred to in the modules. These include the ACSLPA Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics.

To access a learning activity, simply click on the link. After you have completed an activity, return to this page to proceed to the next activity, selecting your own learning path.

To complete the exam and track your completion, log into your profile in the member portal and choose ‘jurisprudence’. Note: the quiz questions that are included in each module of the course do not constitute completion of the jurisprudence exam. The exam is a stand-alone exam that can only be accessed from the member portal.

Please note: Module 4 (Professional Practice Requirements) contains outdated information about ACSLPA’s Continuing Competence Program (CCP). ACSLPA is in the process of updating the Jurisprudence modules.
